Equipment
In many of my processes, I talk about different instrument recordings and sounds used. To make that a little clearer, here are all the instruments and microphones I used throughout the project. Also sources used for research
Violin
Present in most of my tracks is this violin. It's a very cheap instrument, and I cannot play very well. I bought it as a way of capturing organic textures. While I'm still improving for now, it worked pretty well in the album.

Acoustic Guitar
A hondo nylon string acoustic guitar. I usually record with my electric guitar through an audio interface, but you can't beat the organic, natural sound of an acoustic guitar. For some of the songs I use this as a percussive instrument, and with the violin bow.

Irish Tin Whistle
One of my favourites for this album. Providing a truly unique and almost 'fluttering, flapping' sort of sound, the tin whistle carries through the whole album along with the violin. It sounds almost flute-like.

AKG 414
From the Uni's Asset Store, the AKG 414 was used for almost all instrument recordings. It captures a clear, detailed, and dynamic sound, adding both warmth and precision to the recordings while preserving the natural character of each instrument.

Books
I used these two books as my main source of information when writing about the birds, and learning about their personalities.

Ocarina
The ocarina adds a light, airy texture that feels like a bird cutting through open sky, carrying a sense of effortless movement and space. It creates some beautiful harmonies when processed and layered.

Recorder
Only used in a couple of tracks, the recorder tone rings through the frequencies of the other instruments with another unique yet complimentary air texture.

Voice
This project allowed me to feel comfortable using my own voice for the first time in a piece. While it was only humming, and mostly processed heavily, the element of voice added depth and warmth where needed in places.

Zoom H1 Handy
While I didn't directly use this in my project, the H1 Handy was perfect for capturing ambiences and bird song snippets on my trips. This was helpful to listen back to when finding inspiration for composing.
